[#DEBATE] Tuck your shirt In or Not?
I love fashion debates! Talking to people and listen to their controversial opinions on what is best to wear, when to wear it, and how to wear it. But when it comes to weather to tuck your shirt inside your pants or not, decision seems to be hard!
I’ve questioned on this subject many of my friends and other random people I have met and I have heard the most extravagant replies: who said that it depends on your body type (apparently untucked shirts look better on tall guys) , on the pants you are wearing, if you want to look “dorky” or not, on your age (seems that if you are old, you are supposed to tuck your shirt “where it belongs” – to quote one of my friend), if you have a ‘belly’ and want to hide it, if your pants are loose and you can’t find your belt (at least this is my friend solution: just tuck his shirt in so his pants won’t fall off) or on the occasion: formal = tuck it in, casual = wear it out.
I find myself to partially agree on some of the above opinions, however to me, decision should be taken when you are at your tailor’s to get your shirt made. In fact, weather you should tuck your shirt in your pants or not, depends mainly on the type of shirt you are wearing and particularly on its length.
The rule says that if you want to wear your shirt outside it should go halfway down the zippers, instead if you are wearing it tuck in, it should go all the way down the zippers.
Also, as a general rule, always remember that we never wear single pieces of clothing independent from each others, whatever we pick in the morning from our closet goes to create an overall ‘outfit’ and that’s another thing we should keep in mind!
Imagine a man wearing cashmere and silk suit and a French cuff shirt but not tucking it into his pants …wouldn’t that be just a tiny bit inappropriate?
